Part One: The Lord of Rats



This is yet another fic based on EverAfter However, this entire tale takes place far before the actual comic. This tale is a hypothetical origin story for the characters Rosie and Posie (although Posie is more focused upon in this chapter, Rosie will have a larger role in the following ones). For those that don't know who they are, they're these girls: [link] This story will explore why their arms look like...um...sins against nature, how they ended up crazy enough to be put in EverAfter, and why they look so young despite the fact they are in EverAfter longer than anyone else. Their personalities might not be as they appear in the comic because...they haven't appeared in the comic yet. I'm basing their personalities on the fact that Posie kinda looks sad in that picture, and Rosie looks like a homicidal maniac.



Now, I originally wanted to make this just a two parter, but the story ended up so long I'm going to have to split it into four parts. Because of this, this chapter might seem a little slower than something like Tumbling After, but I promise the next chapter will be much more eventful.



Since this story is based on the origin of people who have yet to appear in the comic, this whole story is probably going to be contradicted by the actual comic rather quickly, but I hope that doesn't interfere with your ability to enjoy it.



This story is based on the fairy tale "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" and, to a lesser extent, the nursery rhyme "Ring around the Rosie." However, the story will take some liberties with the original "Pied Piper" story. For example, in the original story, the Piper wore a suit with many, many colors on it. That didn't fit my reimagining of him, so I changed it. Although, compared to how this story will diverge from the original story later, this little change is nothing.
