About the Book

The museum education system in Egypt is one of the most highly regarded museum education systems in the world. Since its inception in a tent in the Egyptian Museum’s garden in 2001, this revolutionary museum education system has evolved to include five museum schools across Egypt that serves thousands of students annually, including students with special needs and blind students. This book discusses how the Museum School started – and grew – with limited resources, and innovative volunteer, publicity and fundraising campaigns. It provides an overview of the types of programs and curricula it offers, and the creation of the Children’s Museum, the only children’s museum in the world featuring original artifacts. It addresses the lessons museum in the US can learn
