Between my mother Elois Janell Hemphill and my father Howard Leslie New, I feel I'm related to just about everyone in Bastrop County, Texas. I didn't grow up here as my father had the calling to serve his country by joining the Navy, but I considered it home. After my husband retired from the Army we came "home".
I began researching my family history over 10 years ago. About that same time, I found the usgenweb county pages and saw that Bastrop County didn't have much information for researchers. I became the coordinator for this website and began visiting the courthouse, gathering, copying and uploading information to aid other researchers who had family in this county.
Married with 3 grown children, one new granddaughter and another expected soon, this branch of the tree keeps growing and making it's own piece of history.
