My wife and I were expecting our first baby. I had just ordered our first toy for him. It was a stuffed yeti, whose face was fixed into a frown. I was more excited about the toy than I should’ve been. My wife had been going through some terrible sickness with the pregnancy, but that night as my wife and I lay in bed, she asked me to tell her a story, and I decided to practice my bedtime storytelling skills. The girl’s name was originally Alice, and of course it didn’t rhyme…but the story is almost identical.
