Max Guilbaud is a boy who lives in Queens, New York. Both his parents are from Haiti and teach him many Hatian practices. Maxime was only 11 years old when he started this book and is writing it with his friend Nathaniel Hylton. Nathaniel Hylton is currently 12 years old and comes from a Jmaican background. He currently is in a program with Max called Prep For Prep. Busy with schoolwork, they both look at writing books as a true freetime fun activity. Both Nathaniel and Max have some experience writing due to their writing of other books.
