Elie was born in the small town of sighet Transylvania, in 1928. Elie was in a very close, religious family. In World War 2 he and his family were deported to German consentration camps where his parents and little sister were murdered. Elie and his two older sisters were freed from the camps by alie armys in 1945. Elie came to america and now lives in New York where he writes books about the holocaust and the trouble he has been put through.
