The author is the host "father" of Lena, a teenage German exchange student who spent most of the 2011-2012 academic school year living with our family in Getzville, NY (a suburban area north of Buffalo, NY). Our goal as a host family was to provide Lena with a well-rounded view of America through various vacations to locales around the United States and expose her to many parts of our culture.
