These are a collection of poems that convey my inner struggles, that I continue to work on, in order to heal. Poetry helps me heal my inner conflicts. Working on accepting and adapting to life on life's terms. Don't fight the wave, ride the wave. I also included some paintings I painted in the past.

Melissa Vasquez, MSW
I am a 37-year-old who graduated Cum Laude, from Saint Mary’s College with a B.S. in Adolescent/Adult psychology. I then attended San Jose State University, earning my master’s in social work with honors. I have been sober for 22 years, and during that time helped teach addiction to Stanford medical students. I have worked in social work for 17 years in the areas of sexual assault and domestic violence. Additionally, I was born with the eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa from which I will eventually slowly go blind unless there’s a cure soon. I was diagnosed at the age of 6 months and have been legally blind since the age of 22.
