About the Book

An African-American spin on a time-honored folk tale. Meet Jacques (pronounced "jok"), who, along with his mother, is very very poor until a chance encounter with Rollo, the town merchant, whose bad intentions turn out for the benefit of Jacques and his mother. This meeting sends Jacques on a magical, and funny journey that neither he, nor the reader, will soon forget. Jacques, his first work, is a re-telling of a classic folktale, featuring all African American characters. Filled with expressions unique to Black culture, and even a tribute to pop-icon Prince (the letter "u" used in place of "you"), Jacques is to be shared with people of all colors, shades, and hues, so we can all live, laugh, and love this beautiful culture that has contributed so much to so many!

Professor J or simply "Professor" as he is called by his many adoring students, has been an educator for twelve years. In this time, he discovered that there are so few children's books featuring African American characters..not to mention light skinned Blacks and those of mixed (cajun/creole) descent. Jacques, his first work, is a re-telling of a classic folktale, featuring all African American characters. It is his first in a series of re-imagining of time honored tales that will bring our beautiful culture to bookshelves far and wide!
