Charlie Armstrong was born in McAllen, Texas in 1951. He was raised in Corinth, Mississippi and later moved to Cherokee in Alabama when he was 12. At 16, he ran away from home and traveled extensively. He played in rock n roll bands but never made a dime. In his mid-thirties, he stumbled upon filmmaking and rose through the ranks, making maybe ninety films. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Black Mountain, North Carolina.
