Ruth Hollister is a single mother working at the St. Louis Chronicle in 1941. Struggling to put food on the table, she juggles trying to raise her daughter, Lucy, to make her babysitter happy and work nine to five for her ill-tempered boss. However, after attending a local rodeo, she finally discovers the peace and serenity she's been searching for, but it requires many sacrifices. When her country is threatened by the Axis powers, Ruth discovers her true identity in Christ as she fights her own battles on the home front.

Allora Leonard, fourteen-years-old, resides in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Pagosa Springs, Colorado with her wonderful parents.
