Originally graduating with a BA in English Literature, then a BS in Biology, and a MS in Clinical Science. Now, with over 40 years as a Clinical Laboratory scientist and currently the Director of Laboratory Operations in a large clinical laboratory providing over two million test results per month, and thirty of those years also training in the arts, receiving a number of awards, including 1st place award in the pen and ink category of the Society of Western Artists 1998 annual art contest. As well as two articles regarding automation of laboratory operations in the Journal of Laboratory Automation. Our laboratory is ISO 15189 accredited, with deemed status by Joint Commission, the College of American Pathologists, NELAC, and other accrediting agencies whose acronyms I have since forgotten. I now focus on children's books for my grandsons when I am not working on the implementation of a Laboratory Information System at work, or driving to work.
