A Walk in the Woods with Stella is the story of Sunny, a beautifully imperfect eleven year old girl. Sunny finds herself on a journey of realization. She has lived in the foster care system since she was five. Her life experiences have left her with anything but a sunny attitude. She wonders why in the world her parents named her what they did. She rarely trusts anyone and sees the world as a glass half empty. She is tired of moving from place to place, changing schools, and feeling like she never belongs. Her latest placement finds her with Beth, Joe, and their dog Stella. To Sunny, this home is just the next stop along her bumpy road. Though Sunny is hesitant to trust anyone, she and Stella become immediate friends. Their walks in the woods together, and the unlikely companions they encounter there, teach Sunny a lot more than she ever bargained for. They begin to help her see things in new ways, and she begins to open her heart to possibility.

My name is Tina Ryan. I am a wife, mother, teacher and author. My husband Chase and I have 4 boys ages 16, 14, 11, and 9. They light up my life and make me laugh and smile everyday. We live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have been teaching for 17 years. I adore kids and enjoy spending my days with 3rd graders. I also enjoy taking pictures of my children, running and going to the beaches on beautiful Lake Michigan. I have been writing stories since I was 7 years old. I want to publish books that make kids believe in themselves, love to read, teach them something and smile! It is my dream to make a difference through literature. Kids and stories are my passion!
