About Me
I grew up in a home that was always encouraging my siblings and me to do and go for whatever it was we set our minds to. My parents wanted what was best for us all, and we knew they would do anything in their power to make it happen. Like all families, mine went through its rough patches; and this is when I believe my writings became more personal. My dad always told us life is like a roller coaster, and it was more exciting than the carousel. Little does he know I pretty much base my life off of that; especially during those cork screws when we all close our eyes and scream. I don’t really like to call my writings poetry; poetry is a career to some people and with careers come criticism, whether it be constructive or not, and to be frank, I don’t write for other people to “constructively criticize” my thoughts and feelings. My biggest inspiration is Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. He once said "Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You." (Happy Birthday to You), and that quote kind of stuck. It’s funny to me, we all wake up every morning and we get in our cars, or on the buses, trains, and go to our jobs or school and glue ourselves mentally to the modern technology that has consumed the world today. But if we stopped for a moment and we took the courtesy to sit back and realize there’s people out there that never heard of an iPhone, or an HD t.v. or a new acura tl, but that live in houses made of mud and still manage to smile, old beat up cars, but still walk the streets and ask for help, shacks, but still teach the children of tomorrow what the children of today already know, than maybe this world could be a closer place. My writings aren’t meant to impact the views of anyone who might view differently than I, but to open a small window in the back of a person’s mind so they too can see that their views and ways are not the only ones out there. I named this book “la vita è bella” which is Italian for “life is beautiful” simply because it is, even the ugly stuff.
