This essay examines the real life situation of Zinedine Zidane at the 2006 World Cup final. First the essay explains how Zidane’s processing of verbal insults may have resulted in atypical aggression from a cognitive perspective. Then the biological effects of the insult are examined to determine why a response was educed. Finally, the incident is explored from a sociocultural perspective, investigating the effects of Zidane’s identities, to determine why the aggressive behaviour occurred.
