This is a photographic reproduction of my father's ninth grade autobiography project. He was born in 1928 and raised in West Harwich, Massachusetts. His autobiography project is a portrait of life on Cape Cod in the 1930's through the eyes of a 14 year old boy. He was an intelligent, adventurous, and somewhat dangerously inventive boy. Lawrence Philip Chase was lanky like most boys his age, had curly black hair, deep blue eyes that sparkled, and freckles that multiplied every summer spent in the breezy sunshine of Cape Cod. My Dad lived his 84 years of life with the same creativity, fierce independence, disdain for convention, rebellion against confinement, curiosity, and passion that he revealed in these pages. Dad died November 19, 2012. Everyone who knew my dad will smile, chuckle, and perhaps roll their eyes as they recognize the man they knew in the earnest boy who lives on in these pages.
