About Author
I have just finished a year as Writing Coach for Northern Lights Community School, a project-based, student-centered, hands-on learning charter school in Warba, Minnesota, fifteen miles east of Grand Rapids.
As a long-time college English faculty, this was the first time I was invited into a secondary learning environment to mentor teachers and students in the teaching and learning of writing. The year was hugely successful. I was welcomed into this close-knit learning community, became part of the faculty team, and was accepted by the students as one of their adult mentors.
