About the Book

BLOOD TIES — FULL STORY RUNDOWN

Blood Ties is a grounded, dark one-shot crime comic about family, consequence, and how one choice can turn survival into responsibility.

THE SETUP

CJ has just become a father.

He isn’t with his baby mama anymore, but he was there when his son was born—and that moment changes him. He knows one thing for sure: his bloodline cannot fall.

Money is tight. Pressure is constant. The streets don’t pause just because life got real.

CJ moves only with family:

Lil M — his older brother, calm, disciplined, long cornrows, the one who keeps everyone steady.

Lil D — CJ’s younger cousin, quiet, observant, dreads like CJ, never reckless.

Lil KJ — the youngest cousin, short hair, impulsive, reacts before thinking.

They plan a robbery.
Simple. Fast. In and out.

The plan is ugly but cold: if people get hurt, nobody important will care. They’ll take the money and be good for a while.

THE MISTAKE

Inside the spot, tension spikes.

A man moves.

Lil KJ reacts without thinking and pulls the trigger.

The silence afterward hits harder than the gunshot.

When Lil D checks the body, the truth comes out:
the man they killed is the kingpin’s son.

In one moment, a money problem becomes a death sentence.

The city shifts.
Word spreads.
The kingpin starts looking for blood.

CHOICES UNDER PRESSURE

CJ doesn’t panic.

Before the retaliation begins, he makes a move that defines him—he goes to his girlfriend, not his baby mama, and warns her to leave town immediately. He doesn’t explain details. He doesn’t make promises. She listens and goes.

CJ understands now: protecting people means removing them from your world.

Back at CJ’s crib, the crew stays together. They rotate guard shifts. Sleep comes in pieces. Everyone knows the kingpin’s men are coming.

THE FIRST RETALIATION

During the night, a kingpin’s thug opens fire into CJ’s crib.

Lil D gets hit.

CJ rushes to him, panicked but focused. Lil M reacts instantly and kills the attacker before more damage can be done.

Lil D is bleeding, scared—but alive.

CJ realizes staying put will get everyone killed.

They pull the bullet out themselves. Wrap the wound. Move before dawn.

The war has officially started.

CJ CROSSES THE LINE

In a later confrontation, CJ shows how ruthless he can be.

Gunshots ring out.
Kingpin’s men go down.

One thug is cornered.

CJ drops his gun and beats the man with his fists until Lil M physically pulls him off, telling him:

“This ain’t you, CJ.”

CJ snaps back to reality and sees the blood on his hands.

This moment changes him.

The rage passes—but what replaces it is colder and heavier.

THE WORD GETS BACK

One of the kingpin’s men survives and reports back:

“It was CJ and his goons.”

The kingpin doesn’t yell. He doesn’t rush.

He orders them all dead—family, friends, anyone close enough to hurt CJ.

Fear is weaponized.

THE FINAL MOVE

CJ understands there’s no hiding now.

He hunts the kingpin directly.

Before it ends, CJ smokes one last blunt. They stare each other down—two men who know only one is walking away.

CJ throws the blunt down and says:

“That was my last blunt. I’ma mess you up, foo.”

They fight.

It’s ugly. It’s personal. It’s not clean.

CJ kills the kingpin.

THE CROWN

With the kingpin dead, the city goes quiet.

Not peaceful—just waiting.

CJ has the power now. The streets know his name. They’re watching him the way they once watched the man he killed.

CJ relights the blunt he threw down earlier and takes a long hit—not pride, not joy.

Relief.

He understands what this really means.

Quietly, to himself, CJ says:

“Now I got the juice.”

Not as a flex—but as a realization.

Power makes you the target.

THE FINAL IMAGE

CJ stands alone, smoke drifting upward.

Then—

small feet run toward him.

His son.

No guns.
No blood.
No words.

CJ drops to one knee and opens his arms.

FINAL MESSAGE

Blood Ties ends with a truth, not a victory:

The fight doesn’t stop.

Power doesn’t bring peace.

Choices ripple outward.

Responsibility is heavier than violence.

CJ survives the streets—but now he has to protect a future.

WHAT THE STORY TEACHES

Be careful who you move with

Be careful how you react

Violence doesn’t end cycles—it shifts them

Power is a burden, not a reward

Blood Ties is dark, grounded, and honest—a one-shot that shows consequences without preaching and ends with hope that feels earned.
