This first tale in a series about Charlie the dog, addresses the importance of hygiene. Charlie meets Puey in the bushes and now he doesn't smell very good. His people, Amanda and David, love Charlie, but they can't stand to be around him because he "stinks".
Sherry Patterson is a School Nurse for Dover City Schools in Dover, Ohio. She wrote the Charlie's Tale series to teach students about issues that are sometimes difficult to address with them on a personal level. Amanda and David are her kids and Charlie was their dog. She uses them in a light-hearted way as bibliotherapy to communicate about some of the common situations she deals with in her daily practice at school.
