The entire families live's were changed forever during the time of fighting. This boy lived on his parent's plantation and tells what it iwas like to grow up during the war. The story is what he saw and how his family survived.

John Westmoreland is an eleven year-old boy who resides in Atlanta Georgia. He is a fifth grader at The Lovett School. He retells the story about his family durinig the American Civil War. This story has been passed down in John's family from generation to generation, as it was told to him by his grandfather, and the grandfathers that came beofre him.
