Official Curious Conditions: Emergency Room

This is a philanthropic project from which all proceeds will be donated to a cause related to children’s healthcare.

Through the use of storybooks, my mission is to educate children on various medical diseases, procedures, and conditions in an effort to make them more comfortable with visiting the doctor, all while creating awareness and fostering acceptance of various medical conditions.

I was inspired to begin “Curious Conditions” while volunteering my time in the emergency room at Scottsdale Healthcare. As I would see children come into the ER, I noticed how frightened they were to be in such an unfamiliar and scary environment. From my experience, I was inspired to come up with a way of lessening children’s fears when it came to visiting the doctor. This, in addition to my aspirations of joining the medical field, inspired me to come up the concept for “Curious Conditions” – children’s books that expose kids to medicine including common diseases, injuries, and the overall medical environment. All kids are, by nature, very curious about the world around them, my hope was to write stories that helped fulfill their curiosity through the use of a story.
