Cara is invisible. She's not the weirdo of the school, no that's her friend Zoey, she's not a loner, or a stoner, or an underachiever. She's normal. Except at home. She grew up fast. She takes care of her six year old brother, and her spineless mother, her father, when he's not at work (maybe even at work) is drinking. She has a troubled past, which is what drove her here. There has been a war, for ages, the well known war of Dark and Light. While hidden from normal people, each side is constantly recruiting, and each side has there own reasons for being right. Cara, swayed by the dark, soon discovers she isn't the only one in her school who's chosen sides. Her enemy Lux, is of course the all mighty light, while Zoey, her rock in a world gone mad, is the Dark. With the war escalating and the battles resulting in dozens of dead classmates and even teachers, and her fathers drinking problem getting out of control, Cara is torn between fighting for the dark and protecting her mom and brother from her father. she can't do both. Who will she choose.
Just trying to get some idea of the plot out there because I don't have very much of the story yet. (didn't edit this so forgive me for spelling and grammar errors)
