Inside you'll find the staples of my household (like soups, hummus and pizza) and dishes I might make on a Sunday morning when it's cold outside and the day has no structure. I'm thinking of the kind of day when time in the kitchen is only a pleasure. There's warmth from the stove, NPR on the radio and the tea kettle whistles frequently.
Some of these recipes became "mine" by adding or changing a few key ingredients. In others, I deleted an obscure or hard-to-get ingredient, like jicama (my apologies to jicama lovers). In a few of these recipes, I simplified preparation. Some are "mine" because I was lucky enough to have discovered them or been inspired by them. None are copied from the original without some tweaking and only a few are completely my own. All of them are truly favorites of mine.
