Reading is fun when you and your friends camp out, hike and enjoy looking for new words.
Toni F. Lyerly was born in Holland and grew up on a sailboat in the Virgin Islands. Toni and her brother shared many adventures together as their family moved to New York City, Tombstone, Arizona and San Diego, California. Toni graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Toni volunteered full time with Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina. She worked on Women’s builds in South Africa and Zambia. Her favorite role is being, “Oma” with her 8 grandchildren as they listen and learn together.
In 2009, Toni was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Her hands shake as she draws the characters and scenes in her books. The patience she has learned has given her the opportunity to listen to her grandchildren as their imaginations soar with the wonders of life.
