This book entails in pictorial views a little over a year's worth of photos taken with my Kodak Easyshare Camera along the Little Calumet River in Hammond, Highland and Munster Indiana. The bike trail/nature trail/walking path go through and alongside this area. This book will showcase the beauty and abundance of nature that is surviving and residing in an area that seems very unlikely to have so much wildlife.
Most of the pictures were taken from May 31st 2011 and continued on until July of 2012. This area in Northwest Indiana is an industrialized area. The river is surrounded by interstates, highways, roads and there are airplanes overhead going continuously to Midway and O'Hare Airports in Illinois. There are businesses and homes also surrounding the river with Wicker Golf Course in Highland Indiana bordering part of it.
This book I feel will show how a person can find beauty if you are observant and willing to look for it even in the most unlikely places.

Maureen Garrison is a self employed artist who originally is from LaPorte Indiana. She lived there for fifty years before moving to Hammond Indiana. Her expertise ranges from painting, drawing, photography, designing, adobe CS5 design work, and musician. She has a Bachelors Degree from Purdue North Central, Associates Degree from Ivy Tech in Michigan City and a graduate of the Art Instruction School. She is a mother of 3 grown children and has one granddaughter.
