This book was originally conceptualized as instructional material for non-major chemistry students at Central Mindanao University but it has since then been appreciated by other students and teachers alike that there seems to be a need to revisit and write a third edition.
In addition, a lot has happened since 2003, when this book was first written, not only in the CMU but in the Philippines and the science world as well such that the challenge is going back to the roots and building a good foundation so to speak.
On the other hand, while so much has advanced in science, in particular, the tweaking of genes to produce genetically modified organisms and super microorganisms, questions about life, the soul, and God have become so intense. All these require a good grasp of chemistry to be enlightened and not be duped into making decisions that may be damaging to individuals as well as to the community and the league of peoples.
