Gentoo is one of many penguins in the flock. He doesn't know how to fit in. He doesn't know how to be a friend. He does what he thinks will get the other penguins to notice him. He is mean and ornery and picks on the littler penguins of the flock. Gentoo is a bully. And we can learn a lot from Gentoo, as he learns some lessons the hard way.

Jackie L. West lives in the Rio Grande valley of central New Mexico. She is a proud mother. She has been blessed to be a mom to several children along the way. One such wonderful child was John, whom was known as J.C. in the family J.C. West's life was cut short on Memorial Day Weekend of 2011 when the car he was in was hit by a drunk driver. He was 23. J.C. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He grew up in New Mexico and in Oklahoma. J.C. wrote stories when he was young, and this one we share in his memory. J.C. was a 5th grader at La Merced Elementary School in Belen, New Mexico when he wrote this story.
