In 1943 my mother Maria Goossen with six children fled Ukraine in the midst World War 2, eventually to emigrate to Canada to begin a new life. John Goossen, Maria's husband and my father, was forcibly separated from his young family during the war. John was eventually captured and imprisoned, then released many years later. John reunited with his wife, children and grandchildren in Vancouver, Canada. A Goossen Family Journey is a personal memoire of those times.

About Author
Kay Goossen Redden was born in Ukraine in 1936. She and her siblings and their mother escaped Europe and emigrated to Canada in 1947. The family began a new life in Yarrow, BC. Kay married, has two sons, and currently lives in Quesnel BC with her husband. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family
