In the book of Mark, verse 4:18-19 Jesus explains regarding the parable of the sower that the third seed was "like seed sown among thorns [that] hears the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful."
True Salvation requires endurance, perseverance, abiding and believing in the Lord Jesus during times of hardship, but even more difficult, during times of ease and plenty. It is so easy to fall away, to be deceived, to let other things consume your life, to become a third seed.
These poems are a cry from a lost soul wounded by sin, selfishness and self-love. A cry for salvation, for redemption, for hope. Abiding in the Lord is HARD, because our very natures are against God. We can do nothing but cast ourselves onto His mercy, and trust that He is indeed a God mighty to save.
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

I was born the middle child of seven children. My father was a missionary who became ill with brain cancer, and died when I was just six years old. It made a huge impact on my life, both because I remember the joy that shone on his face when he spoke of his beloved Jesus, and because of the bitter anger towards God when He took my father away.
I've struggled with that anger my whole adult life; It is only now, at the end of my life, when I know that I will soon face my Creator, that I am beginning to glimpse what my father saw so clearly. That there is an eternity for us all, either with a just and righteous God, or an eternity without Him.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever should believe on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Where will you spend eternity? Cry out now, that God might have mercy and grant you repentance, and in granting repentance, give you the water of Life - Jesus, the son of God.
