Young Sarah Waters is forced by the Canadian government to leave her family, friends and her home on the reserve. Sarahs'culture is being abolished by Christianity when she is sent to a residential school in upper Canada. Sarah musn't speak her Aboriginal language, she may only speak English. The homesick little girl can't do anything about being taken away to her new enviornment or her parents will be imprisoned. All Sarah longs for is to be home with her family and friends.
