My parents Ellis and Mary Nelson often taught my brother Charles and I through the use of short and timely phrases. This book is my way of sharing their words with you. Each word and phrase brought with it a special meaning and what often seemed to be a hidden lesson in life. The single phrases invite you to think deeply and to search for the meaning. This was their way of teaching us to think for ourselves while at the same time gaining wisdom from what they had learned throughout a lifetime.

Dr. Gloria Toure' is the daughter of Ellis and Mary Nelson. She was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She attributes her success in life to the teachings of her parents. She is the mother of three children, three stepchildren, and three grandchildren.
