August is abandonded at her house after her mother is arrested, she runs away from her little town surviving on trashcan scraps. A family finds her and takes her in as their own they rename her Alyssa. But when her adoptive mom dies of cancer she skips town yet again.

Mary K. Sprinkle was born in Sarasota, Florida but moved to Dobson, NC shortly after her birth. She was born on August 1st,1999. She has 3 brothers and a sister all of which are older than her. She was inspired to write when she wrote an essay for school and her teacher loved it. She is currently taking vocal lessons and singing in her schools choir.
