Every month, the people of Gesina would choose a maiden, dressed in a red hood and would leave her outside the gates for the wolves. So they wouldn't come and raid their village. They don't just pick any maiden but a beautiful one, and if the wolf liked the maiden, the wolves would leave the villagers alone for a year. If they were unhappy, they would come again the very next month. This year they choose Harper. A strong willed 20-year-old girl.
