Konleigh attended the Lone Star Leadership Academy, Education in Action on June 23 through June 28, 2013. The selection for the Academy was based on her outstanding academic success, demonstrated leadership ability, a nomination from her teachere, Donna Ewald, and her involvement in school and community activities. Education in Action, dedicated to empowering young people to be informed and active leaders in their communities, hosts the Lone Star Leadership Academy. Konleigh's Texas State Representative and Senator will be notified of her accomplishment. She will be visiting the Austin offices of her State Legislators while attending the program.

She will learn about future career and internship opportunities and visit historically, politically, and geographically significant sites.

I am Tina Owens, Konleigh Eben's mom. I sent her to this camp wondering if she was going to enjoy it or not. I worried about her until I received a letter from her saying that she was having fun. This was such an awesome experience for her. When I picked her up, I wondered what she was going to say. I figured it would be one of the two. One, "Mom this was so boring and I don't ever want to come again." Or, two, "Mom, it was fun and I want to come again." Well, when I picked her up, she said, "Mom, I want to go next year and I want to go to the one in Houston!" Well, I guess I will be signing her up for Houston. She is one awesome kid for taking the risks and trying out these camps to gain experience in so many areas and meet lots of people! Way to go, I love you Konleigh Kaye!
