Born one Indian Summer in the land of 10,000 lakes, where the Mississippi and St Croix Rivers collide, a haiku away from Lake Superior and the childhood home of Bob Dylan, surrounded by hamlets like Elk River, Little Falls, Shakopee, Duluth and Red Wing, Steve is a purveyor and preserver of the lost patina of vintage, rural America. Passing through corn fields and farms of Iowa and Kansas he woke one day in Orange County, California with a pencil in hand and a backlog of memories and stories that begged to be told. Viewing the world and people through a deeply rooted faith in God, Steves images, insights and influences stretch from the head of Old Miss, to the calm and seclusion of a backwoods cabin on Bear Creek, Otis Junction,Oregon,to the swell and surge of humanity swirling thru markets that spill from the alleys and streets of downtown LA.The vivid impressions of youth, first love and his travels weave intricate and recognizable patterns through the woof and wrap of his verse.
