Mei and the Baby - Mother and Child

A widowed Asian woman named Mei finds a helpless baby in a basket on the doorstep of her house after wishing on a falling star while moving here. Mei adopts the baby she had found. She picks up the note left by her friend and reads it: "I have died, my friend. Please take care of my baby. I died of natural causes once. Sincerely, Your best friend always and forever, Na-Jing." Mei writes a letter of acceptance and sends it to Na-Jing's grave.
