James B. Clawson was born in Safford, Arizona on June 2, 1939. His family moved frequently, finally settling in Compton, California in 1944. When Jim was 21 years old he decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called to serve in South Africa.
