Moments of my life through poetry,

I have been making scribblings since I was fifteen, it all came about when I joined the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Artillery, I didn't write many letters home but used to make notes on all the events and actions that I was involved with, much later I started to turn the scribblings into little story notes.

After serving 25 years I came back into civilian life, this had a massive impact on my mental state of mind, I had never lived or worked or lived with civilians even my brothers, sisters and friends were alien to me, their life style there views and perception of the world, how short sighted they all seemed to me, they had no real understanding of the world they lived in.

In recent years I have found that people in general are more aware of the world, but form opinions from vast open media we now have, which tends to slant the truth of any story to fit profit first, it is blind at times to the human cost and use spoken words to form a picture of total confusion.

I wrote a poem reflecting my thoughts on the media, which did very well on the social media network so I wrote a few more, Which achieved similar accolade, so I returned to my scribblings and have been turning them into poetry. I hope you enjoy my rough and ready style.

As a young boy I went to church twice a week every week, with no doubt in my mind that there was a God who sent his son to save us, I loved the bible stories, they sent my imagination soaring. I was a member of the Boys Brigade, the Scouts and Army Cadets all at the same time. I was a very busy young boy.

At the age of fifteen as stated above I joined the British Army and became a Junior Leader in the Royal Artillery, during that time my faith got stronger attending Church Parades and Sunday Services and Sunday School a time of great joy, some of the other boys tried to pick on me, but I had been brought up with courage and boy!! I could fight which these bully boys found out to there cost, strangely most of them became my friends.

By the age of 18 I had had my first introduction into armed conflict, I was unfortunate to be involved in few incidents including fire fights. During this time I saw and delivered violence to my fellowman, I was comfortable with this it was my duty for Queen and Country.

By the age of 22 I had seen so much violence and loss of life including some very dear friends, at this point I suppose I have since questioned and still question my actions and those of God.

I look around this world now an aged man, do we not learn and where are you, are you in such despair of your creation that you have moved on like a child bored with his toys. I only look for answers, perhaps through my Poetry, my answers will be found.
