MONSTER is a story about the monster that frightens Michelle, a 7-year-old girl. When Michelle has a nightmare of the monster, she cries out for her mother and father who go to her without delay. They believe her when she tells them her scary story. She is afraid and can't move. Her loving parents become alarmed and know she is too young to deal with evil on her own. They reassure her she is not alone and is safe! While Michelle's mommy hugs and guards over her, her daddy sets out to capture the monster.
Most children as young as 2 months old can differentiate bad people from good people. Children know who they can trust. When they meet a bad person, they become anxious and feel considerable discomfort. Children may withdraw, cry and scream. Children may also become frozen or run away or thrash about and fight. Many times, children pretend to be nice to avoid being hurt. Children are intuitive and know when someone will do bad things to hurt them.
