A father and daughter take a walk in the early morning and see a series of beautiful birds on their way, all hand painted by the author. The father knows the names of all the birds they see. At the end of the story, the child asks what is the parent's favorite bird. The answer is funny and unexpected, and very touching.
The story is based on the author's fond memories of excursions into nature with his daughter beginning when she was a toddler. Constable wrote and illustrated the book while sheltered-in-place due to the global pandemic.
