"This isn't a real marriage, you just have to pretend to be my wife."
Tasha White, a recent graduate, has moved back to her hometown, Tennessee from New York in the hopes that her Uncle, Greg Montgomery, a bar owner, will be able to help her find a job.
Upon her arrival, she is quickly introduced to Greg's friends:
Jeff Baker, a mean high school teacher,
Lawrence Stewart, a kindly lawyer,
Charles Cox, the flirtatious scriptwriter,
Kevin Coleman, the quiet and shy worker,
Dave Perkins, a comedian.
She also learns that Greg's help isn't going to come without strings attached, because each of these men has a problem that only one woman can help them with. If she agrees to help one of them - and only if she agrees to help - then Greg will help her find a job.
The trouble is, "helping" means having to play as a wife to a man she just met.
