My Life in America is based on a true story. The inspiration for this story came from the time the author was able to spend getting to know the Sanchez family as she babysat their children- Ray, Tomas, Ben, Trini, and Pablo. The purpose of the book is to help children understand the opportunities and difficulties that other children their age face when they leave their homeland and culture and come to America.

Jenn Houghton studied Elementary Education at Baptist Bible College. Her passion for teaching started at the young age of five. I find teaching to be the most rewarding occupation I also really enjoy running, reading, scrapbooking, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with my incredible husband.
