Nellie, Helen, Mary, and Rose Meyers are twelve, nine, seven, and four years old sisters, living in a first-class home serving the Thompson family. While Edith, on the other hand, is living in that first-class home, being served by the Meyers sisters. Thought their lives are very different, Nellie and Edith become great friends, but when Nellie's father dies, the Meyers sisters instantly become orphans, and are sent away to the New York Orphanage for Girls and may never see Edith again! What will Edith do?
