4 schools in the township with over 2000 students

Children walk as far as 12 miles every day

School day is from 8:00am to 2:00pm with no meals being served

The daily menu consists of rice, cassava leaves and palm oil

Average lifespan is 45 years

No industry, no jobs, petty trading

Nearest large city is Freetown
