Chad Bean, born in Ottawa, Ontario, moved to North Hatley when he was five to escape the city. Chad has resided in the Eastern Townships for 13 years. He attended Lennoxville elementary school after transferring from North Hatley school in grade 2. After his elementary school years he went up to Alexander Galt Regional High school for the next 4 years where he played Hockey, football and badminton. He was elected school president when he was in grade 10. That summer he joined the arch rival school down the road, Bishops College School, he went there on a hockey scholarship and that is where he found his passion for writing.
