this book will most definitely be better in time, i just need more of it.

The world of craft is usually seen as "woman's work" however, I combine this feminine medium with playful masculine themes. The work balances the masculine and feminine roles through pop culture imagery such as zombies and other horror scenes. I structure my images through simple panels of color and a low level of tonal ranges. Bright colors allow the humorous subject matter to shine through as well as camouflage the dark undertones that the gruesome images bring about. By using soft materials, the work becomes very approachable and accessible to the viewer through it's inviting tangibility. The familiarity that the material invokes is important when presented with heavy imagery because it provides a sense of comfort and also visual stability.
