Abeni El-Amin is Executive Director of Project Ricochet, Inc of North Carolina. She has taught as an adjunct instructor at Shaw University and Wake Technical Community College in Social Sciences, and the African-American Culture and History at North Carolina State University in the SPACE Academy. She arrived in North Carolina in 2005. She has served as Assistant Professor at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina, Assistant Instructor at Mercer University in Macon, GA, Savannah State University in Savannah, GA and Clark Atlanta University. Her research areas are American Government, African Politics and Government, Comparative Politics and Public Administration.



Her overarching interests are in the areas of Workforce, Community Development, Service-Learning and Civic Engagement. El-Amin has received an Associates degree from the Whitney M. Young Honors Program in Liberal Studies from Kentucky State University. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Economics. She obtained her Masters degrees from Kentucky State University in Public Administration – Human Resource Management and Management Information Systems. She has completed work toward her Ph.D. at Clark Atlanta University in Political Science.



She has also completed the North Carolina Women in Public Service Institute at Peace College sponsored by The Women's Forum of North Carolina. She was a fellow in the Goodmon Leadership Triangle Personal Development Program and a fellow of the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership. She is currently a fellow in the E.A. Morris Emerging Leadership Program. She is a former 2nd Vice Chair of the Wake County Democratic Party a former Chair of the City of Raleigh Human Relations Commission.
