Writing for me is like having a conversation with the pages, they only ever respond with understanding. Unburdened by anything, they have a limitless capacity to absorb the onslaught of words, which I try to sling together like a string of lights in the darkness. Regardless of topic, or how heavy or black the content at times may seem. The hope is that once connected, they emit light in some fashion. Even when I can't see it I believe they must be shining somewhere. I haven’t written in anything other then a duty notebook for years. I've experienced too much to believe in coincidence and in light of that I hope the reasons for which I have been writing again, serve more then just my own need to vent.

"Red" has been a relentless first responder for over 15 years. The chaos and calm that have accompanied the job over those years have created a battle tested warrior covered with scars both seen and unseen. Those experiences bring these pages to life with a first hand perspective, a rare glimpse into the realities faced by the Men and Women that make up our emergency services teams today, and the lens in which the world has occasionally been tainted as a result.
