This is a family history of the Lane/Young family written from notes and recollections gathered together by the author from her parents, Denis Collins Lane and Gertha May Clark Lane, describing something of their origins and incidents in their life together homesteading in south central Oregon.
The author was born of a mixed German - Irish parentage during the Depression and raised on a ranch in south central Oregon. She grew up the hard way on an isolated property in sparsely populated Lake County, Oregon, with snakes & spiders for playmates and wild horses to break and tame for part of her chores. She went on to marry, raise a family, and graduate from college after leaving the ranch. She now lives a quiet life in Roseburg, Oregon since retiring after a long career in education, teaching in Douglas County.
