A SECOND CHANCE

When families cannot provide the care, love and guidance during the turbulent years of adolescence, the peer group becomes the source of support and sense of belonging. However, the guidance and opportunities provided by MYRC were significant in enabling the children to hurdle their struggles to have a “second chance” in life. There are flaws in the juvenile justice system coupled with shortcomings in services and human resource, but these challenges were addressed in the best way possible. The greater challenge is the reintegration of the children with their families and communities.

At the core of human experience is the ongoing work of life–search for meaning, purpose, and belonging. The only enduring answers to the eternal quest are faith, hope, and love.
